Too Tall to Model

Me at 16:-)

Me at 16:-)

This contest is now closed. Thank you for all of your amazing entries. Stay tuned for more from Alloy Apparel.

I have been modeling since I was very young. As I grew, modeling agencies started telling me that I was too tall to model. They told me that they loved my look but that nothing could fit me off the rack and thus I couldn’t be a model. This continues to happen to this day.

There are many problems with this false reasoning. Not only should there be clothing for all body types represented in the fashion industry, telling someone that height is holding them back is ridiculous. Any woman at any time should be able to thumb through a magazine or runway and see clothes that fit her and someone that looks like her. While there have been many strides made, there are still so many women and body types that remain unrepresented.

Recently I was blessed with the opportunity to model for Alloy Apparel. Not only did everything fit like a glove, I felt completely seen and heard. Alloy gets it. They understand that there is a void in fashion and they are doing their part to fill it. It’s an opportunity that I will always be thankful for and you have the chance to do it too!

Alloy Apparel just launched their model search. They are looking for new faces. It’s a great opportunity for us and I hope that you enter. Check out the logistics below. I straight up copied and pasted them so you get all of the accurate details:-)

Hello Beautiful! It's been quite awhile since my last post. My bad. Life has been crazy. I have an amazing project that I have been working on (that I can't quite talk about yet) and the Playoffs (Go Warriors!) are right around the corner so I have been slammed. Please know that I missed you every moment I was away!

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I raved about the H&M New Neutrals line. I love a great neutral and all of the pieces (which flew off the shelves) were right up my alley. I went to the store the day they were released and of course most of the options didn't fit BUT they had this amazing sweater that did. It's super comfy but has side detailing that makes the sweater polished. It has short sleeves, which make it a great option for us and also a surprisingly long body. I know I say it time and time again but it's a testament to the fact that you must try things on.

I put on a form fitting skirt to balance out the silhouette and threw on my babies...the Rollie from Smash Shoes. Side Note: Smash Shoes just came out with an over the knee boot in sizes 10-13 which you will see in a future post so stay tuned. And last but not least, I added one of my fav trends this season, a bag in a bag! You can bring all of your stuff in the bigger bag or put the essentials in the smaller bag and keep it movin...a Tall Girl loves her some options!

It's great seeing you again:-) Have a great day Luv...Stand Tall in everything you do!

#INSTAstyle Dos

Hello Lovely! I hope this blog finds you well. How do you like the new site? Personally, I think it's FAB but I'm kind of partial to it. Anywho, it's time for a little INSTAstyle roundup! These are everyday looks that I post on my IG and since you might not have one...I thought I would share them altogether:)

This is a little workflow look. I absolutely adore these animal print pants (36" inseam) from Long Tall Sally. They are on sale for $49! Since they are relaxed, I wore them with relaxed oversized pieces. The blazer is from Forever 21 and the shirt is from H&M. See...in-store pieces do work for us! You thought I forgot about the shoes...never. Nordstrom Rack baby (size 12).

This shirt! Can you deal!? I squealed when I got it. You're darn right Life is short, but I'm not. It was perfect for a casual Friday with Alloy Apparel skinnies (37" inseam) and classic Converse kicks. If you like this tee, check out the entire tall t-shirt line from Height Goddess.

So this dress is extremely old. One of those LBD's that lasts a lifetime. I copped it from H&M when I was in college which I would like to say was last year but it wasn't. Let's leave it at that. I rocked it with a thrifted belt, old faithful clutch and some sick ones from Nine West (size 12).

Oh, hello denim! I love the Canadian tuxedo. One of my favorite trends this season. The top is from Gap Tall, the cropped jeans are from Democracy (not tall but they work). Yes, these are the same booties you saw earlier. I repeat for many reasons but mainly because being broke isn't cute. Being fiscally responsible is gorgeous.

This. Dress. Is. Amazing. I love the way it fits. The perfect tall-short length. I wore it to a baby shower but there are so many occasions at which you could rock it. Get this...it's only $45. WARNING! Clicking too fast on a length could result in a hurt finger. Be careful my friend.

I know this guy named Christian. He's one of the Nice Guys and he has a t-shirt line to prove it. I am a huge fan of the Nice Brand and one of the best things about it, is that with every purchase 20% of the proceeds go to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. It's an awesome brand for an awesome cause. As you can see, I'm Nice.

Well, that's another INSTAstyle roundup. If you are more into the instant thing than the roundup thing, follow TallSWAG on the gram: @TallSWAG. See you there or be square:) Later beautiful!

#INSTAstyle

I love, love, LOVE to blog but when I am on the go, I often like to share with you using my little friend (who also happens to be friends with 200 million other people) Instagram. When I see something, experience something, feel something or wear something, I post that bad boy to IG.

But ya know...just like every other social medium, not everyone is on it (insert sad face here). And I really don't want to leave anyone out SO I have decided to start doing a #INSTAstyle roundup to showcase some of my favorite tall finds. Want to hear it? Here it go...

This is the one and only Cutout Side One Piece - long Torso Swimsuit from the Alloy Apparel Tall Shop. I was elated when I received it because it actually fit without giving the dreaded camel toe. I wore it during a photo shoot that I had for Candid Art Accessories. I love the cut of it and it also gives a great shape for a person who has a lack of chi chi's like myself. It's what I like to call ladysexy. Nothing is hanging out but the sex appeal is still off the charts. Right now it is only $29.99 and also comes in a tribal print which I will probably buy as well.

Ahhhhhhhhh! This jumpsuit stole my heart the minute I put it on. It's the Zip Detail Jumpsuit from Long Tall Sally. It is SUPER cute, can be dressed up or down and covers the ankles (I just shed a tall style tear). On this particular day, I wore it for a day out with the girls but I have also worn it to the office with a blazer and threw on some flats with it for a day of running errands. If it asked me to marry it, I might say yes. Right now, it's 20% off! Personally I feel it's a steal for a piece this versatile and hard to find. (PS. the shoes are Christian Siriano for Payless circa 2 seasons ago).

My girls! We had a fab day getting our mani's on at the nail salon and I happened to be wearing a FAB pair of tall, floral shorts from the asos tall line. It also has a matching tall kimono but I chose to wear the shorts solo because I was just going to the nail salon and thought it was a bit much. The shorts are super comfortable, cover the buns and are perfect for hot weather. Aren't my friends fierce!?! *Wedge patrol: Free People via the Nordstrom Rack.

I had the honor of seeing my best friend (the dapper guy with the bowtie) marry his better half. It was a beautiful ceremony! Leading up to their special day, I had a couple of non-stop weeks where I had absolutely no time to shop (eeeek!). At 10 p.m. the night before I was leaving for the wedding, I prayed a little fashion prayer and ran into my local Target for a last ditch attempt to find something special. God answered my prayer with this little number; the Mossimo Lattice Back Dress. It was meant to be worn baggy but I wanted a little shape to it, so I paired it with a thrifted belt. It was perfect for the occasion and the back detail added a special little touch. Another testament to the fact that you can find stuff off the rack...you just have to look a little harder:)

So, there you have it...my first #INSTAstyle roundup! Is this something you would like to see on a regular basis? Let me know. Can't wait for the roundup? Follow and get instant @TallSWAG instagrammys here :)
